Electrofusion fittings, with their advantages of controllable welding process and high joint strength, are widely used in various plastic pipe projects. To fully utilize their performance, scientific techniques must be mastered in selection, installation, and subsequent management to ensure connection quality and long-term stable system operation.

First, the selection should match the working conditions and pipe material. Electrofusion fittings made of different materials vary in temperature resistance, pressure resistance, and corrosion resistance. Appropriate selection must be based on the properties of the conveyed medium, operating temperature, and pressure range, ensuring that the fitting specifications perfectly correspond to the pipe's outer diameter and wall thickness to avoid welding defects or stress concentration due to improper fit.

Second, pre-installation preparation is crucial. The pipe end face must be flat, vertical, and free of impurities. Use specialized cutting tools to ensure a clean cut, removing burrs and dirt to prevent contamination of the welding surface and affect the fusion bonding effect. The welding area should be kept dry, especially in humid or low-temperature environments. Preheating or shielding measures should be taken to prevent moisture or condensation from interfering with the melting process.

Welding operations must strictly follow the process parameters. The voltage, current, and heating time should be set according to the fitting model and pipe specifications, and should not be adjusted arbitrarily to prevent overheating leading to material degradation or underheating resulting in a weak weld. During heating, avoid moving the pipe and fittings, ensuring their axes are concentric to ensure even distribution of the molten zone and form a continuous and strong weld band.

After welding, allow the weld to cool for the specified time. Do not apply external force or subject it to sudden cooling to avoid weakening the joint strength. On-site weld quality can be assessed visually and through simple tensile testing; any abnormalities must be addressed promptly. In daily maintenance, regularly check the appearance of the joint and changes in the surrounding environment to identify potential problems in advance.

Mastering these techniques enables the efficient and reliable use of electrofusion fittings under different construction conditions and application scenarios, providing a solid guarantee for the safe transport of pipeline systems.
