HDPE Butt Fusion Coupling

Straight joints are the highest-volume fitting on any PE job, so the difference between a good one and a mediocre one shows up in the weld reports rather than in the first day on site. This butt fusion coupling is moulded from virgin PE100 with a coil in each socket, giving a uniform heating pattern and a socket depth that matches the pipe it is welded to. It is the base unit of the whole range. The other half of the specification is the welder. The fitting carries its own heating parameters, so any compatible machine will run the correct cycle regardless of who is holding it.

How this differs from the rest of the range: Butt-fusion straight coupling, the basic fitting for large-diameter straight pipe connection. Covers larger diameters than electrofusion coupling with high integral butt-weld strength.

dn1 / dn2 = outside diameter of the large / small end; L1 / L2 = the two end lengths; L = overall length

All figures are finished moulded dimensions in millimetres. Where the chart gives a one-sided tolerance such as +3 or +5, the lower limit is 0 and the upper limit is that figure.

Check the socket depth against the pipe you are welding into before you order - it is the figure that decides whether the joint reaches full strength. Sizes outside the chart, and intermediate SDRs, are quoted to order.

Sizing and ordering

What we need from you to confirm the sizing: pipe outside diameter, pipe SDR, and whether the line is designed as a water main or a gas main. The first two fix the geometry; the third fixes what you want printed on the body.

Installation context

Specified duty: straight-line butt connection of large-diameter gas. Typical installations:

• Joining new pipe to an existing main during extensions

• Repairs where a damaged section is cut out and replaced

• Making up spool pieces in the workshop before the trench is opened

• Water supply and industrial piping

• Pulled or directionally drilled sections, where a rotating joint is not possible

Standards and certification

It is moulded as one piece from prime PE100 compound; regrind never goes into the pressure-bearing wall. The reference standard is PE100; ISO 4427 / EN 12201 / GB/T 13663 / DIN 8074-8075, and because the tooling is in house the same fit is supplied whichever of those standards your specification is written to. The factory holds ISO 9001:2015, CE, SGS; documentation is released with the shipping papers rather than held back for a separate request.

Q: Is a larger-diameter coupling available?

A: The electrofusion range runs to DN1400 with tooling already complete. Butt fusion couplings cover the largest diameters and are usually the more economical answer above DN400.

Q: Do you supply the whole joint or just the fitting?

A: We supply the fitting, and we can quote the welder, the peeler and the cleaning consumables as one package if that is easier for the project.

Q: What sizes are available?

A: DN50. Give us the pipe diameter and SDR and we will confirm socket depth and overall length.
