The HDPE Equal Tee socket fusion Fittings are moulded from PE100. The grade decides how much pressure the joint can carry at a given wall thickness.
This page covers the material side only; sizes and wall series are on the dimensions page.
| Size band | Wall series | Typical use |
|---|---|---|
| dn40 - dn50 | SDR11 and SDR17 | service and house connections |
| dn63 - dn50 | SDR11 and SDR17 | service and house connections |
| dn63 | SDR11 and SDR17 | service and house connections |
PE100 against PE80
PE100 carries roughly a quarter more design stress than PE80 at the same temperature. That is the whole reason modern pressure pipe is PE100: the same pressure needs a thinner wall, or the same wall carries more pressure.
For the HDPE Equal Tee socket fusion Fittings the difference shows up as a shorter fusion cycle. A thinner wall reaches temperature sooner and needs less heat input, which matters at the top of the dn40 to dn63 ladder where the cycle is long.
Why PE100 for pressure pipe
Higher design stress means a lower SDR for the same pressure class. Less material per metre, faster fusion, and a lighter pipe to handle on site when laying the HDPE Equal Tee socket fusion Fittings.
MDPE variants
MDPE grades are used where the pipe will be slow cracked by point loading or by rocky backfill. For the HDPE Equal Tee socket fusion Fittings the fusion procedure is unchanged; the fusion window is slightly wider, which makes the joint a little more forgiving on site.
Marking and traceability
Each HDPE Equal Tee socket fusion Fittings carries the dn size, the SDR and the material grade on the body, and the moulding batch ties back to the material lot certificate. That chain is what lets a unit be traced after installation.
