What To Do If The Storage Period Is Exceeded?

Many project managers are worried: If the pipes or fittings exceed the specified period, must they be scrapped? Actually, it is not entirely so. For the over-aged PE pipes, performance re-inspections should be conducted. The main contents include as below:

Appearance inspection:

Are there cracks, fading, deformation or surface powdering.

Mechanical property testing:

The tensile strength, fracture elongation rate, etc. of the pipes; the fusion strength, peel strength, operating torque of the fittings and valves.

Pressure test:

Confirm that the pipes can still work normally under the design pressure.

Only through these tests can the pipes and fittings be used. If the tests are below standard, they should be used at a reduced level to ensure the safety of the project.
