Gas dead-ends have no margin for error. This end cap is specified for gas duty, with a homogeneous fusion seal that gives escaping fuel no path out of the closed pipe and lets no outside moisture in.

A Seal There Is No Gap Around

Electrofusion melts the cap and pipe into one continuous material around the full circumference. For gas, that continuity is the point: a continuous polymer seal holds back the medium at the one place where a terminal could otherwise leak unnoticed.
